Our Goal
Our mission is to encourage mental healthcare among our fellow professional peers in the Human Services field. We want to spark an increase in self-care, decreasing burnout and compassion fatigue; and maintain longevity in the helping fields we need the most. Amongst many, MLC wants to showcase our support for fellow Therapists, Social Workers, Teachers, Police Officers, Firefighters, Nurses, Doctors.
Objective
Manifest Life Counseling will provide pro-bono services for 16 of our professional peers throughout 2020. MLC will offer free individual therapy, up to 3 months, for each respected peer group identified. Therapists at MLC commit to providing therapy services for 2 peers, 2x per month, totaling 6 sessions.
Why “Peers with Purpose”?
Working in the Human Services field has offered experience at many different capacities, including schools, hospitals, and juvenile detention facilities. Throughout these encounters, we have identified that although our professional peers have a passion for their chosen fields, the work we perform can be strenuous, traumatic, emotionally exhausting, and very time consuming in our lives. We often choose helping others before helping ourselves- sometimes ending up desensitizedand jaded. MLC respects and honors the work of our helping professionals. We hope to capture the importance of mental health among professionals, and how it ultimately effects the care provided to our families and communities.
